Minima 2 by XPERIMENTA Audio: Free Kontakt Library

Minima 2 is a free Kontakt collection from XPERIMENTA Audio for writers and producers who want a compact palette of acoustic instruments, treated keyboards, synth textures and percussion. It is not a VST or AU plug-in: Minima 2 runs inside the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt.

The collection is designed around useful, characterful sounds rather than a single instrument type. That makes it a practical starting point for sparse scoring, ambient production, cinematic sketches and songs that need an organic layer without opening several separate libraries.

What Minima 2 includes

XPERIMENTA Audio lists instruments across strings, percussion, keyboards, synths, winds and choir. The collection includes a rehearsal piano, piano eBow, brush piano, electric guitar, Strings Sul Tasto, melodica, Hulusi, choir, carillon, bass drum, vibraphone coins, bells, pads and other sound-designed instruments. Recent updates added Winter Bells and Sleigh Bells.

Its interface provides a three-stage Smart Envelope, two Smart Effects macros and a Smart Formant control. Those controls are intended to shape attack and release, add movement or colour, and alter the perceived size of a sound without replacing the source character.

Compatibility and requirements

• Host: Native Instruments Kontakt Full 6.6.1 or later.
• Formats: Kontakt library / NKI content; it is not supplied as VST, VST3, AU, AAX or CLAP.
• Kontakt Player: not compatible.
• Operating system: use a computer supported by your installed version of Kontakt and Pulse Downloader. Check the current requirements on the official pages before downloading.

How to get and install Minima 2

1. Use the official XPERIMENTA Audio product page linked in the download panel.
2. Complete any required account or checkout steps on the official store. The library is listed as free, but the publisher’s store and delivery process can change.
3. Install or open Pulse Downloader, then download Minima 2 from your library.
4. Open Kontakt Full and load an instrument from the Minima 2 library.
5. For later releases, use Pulse’s product-update control rather than downloading files from mirrors.

Getting started

Begin with one instrument and keep the Smart Effects restrained. A rehearsal piano or brush piano can establish a human foundation; add a Sul Tasto string layer or choir for depth, then automate the macro controls only where the arrangement needs movement. Because the collection contains both acoustic and sound-designed material, it works especially well when a familiar part needs a less predictable texture.

Who is it for?

Minima 2 suits composers, beatmakers and songwriters who already own Kontakt Full and want an authorized free palette for sketches and finished arrangements. It is less suitable for anyone relying on the free Kontakt Player, because that player is not supported.
