Kontakt Instrument
Aimed at those who seek to inject some spiky toy piano sounds into their compositions.
The timbre of the instrument can be best described as "thin" or "shrill" (as opposed to toy pianos with a more metallic resonance), but the instrument is tuned to work within the context of other instruments in order to provide less jarring clashes.
The piano has been recorded completely dry, so added ambiance and tonal shaping are under your control in post processing.
But why?
Connaisseurs know a toy piano is a wonderful instrument, especially a good Bontempi one which can easily equal a Steinway (on a smaller scale of course). However, toy pianos are extremely rough to play! To make matters worse, Bontempo has a range of 1.5 octaves and practically no black keys.
It doesn't matter if you choose C major or A minor, otherwise you're restricted.
Improved Bontempo
Each piano key is sampled at three different rates to represent the dynamic range of playing. All missing "black keys" were added by interpolating the nearest available interval up or down a semitone.
This allows you to use your favorite MIDI controller to play the Bontempi toy piano (endlessly re-recording a miked toy piano to capture a performance free of unwanted squeaks and rattles). No need to). . Additional scripting capabilities in Kontakt Sampler allow for other expressive articulations by adding rumbling sounds to aftertouch responses, reintroducing unpredictable handling sounds when a key is released It adds a little charm.
All samples were dry recorded at 44.1 kHz using a Shure SM57 microphone and are unprocessed for dynamics and spectral quality for maximum post-production potential.
