Fun and exciting, the Surreal MG-1 Plus Synth is a super-realistic reproduction of the actual MG-1 synth sold in Radio Shack stores in the 80's. Surrealistic MG-1 Plus delivers a similar sound clear self with its own polyphonic oscillator section, "bell" modulation and many other improvements that greatly expand its capabilities.

I downloaded this plugin last night after enthusiastically emailing CA and thanking them so much for the free synth I've always wanted. MG-1. Installation is easy. I decided to go with the standalone version first and it's awesome… I've never tried the plugin… at least in the DAW. But… and I say but, is it worth it? Yes, it really is. I know I'm probably the worst person to criticize this for my love for Moog, but I'm not a Moog fanboy because I have good sound and good design and Cherry Audio is the software company module that I will hold to the exact same kind of standard. It looks like the MG-1 with its ABS shell and the ruffled pattern of the 80's plastic storage box and cassette deck. I was in awe of its sheer beauty in the first 3.5 minutes. first. Lol… then I jumped. wow…..WOW…. OMY Red's wealth is in this plastic box…

The Poly settings were so perfect that I tried to keep comparing. The software sounds better. The sound is rich, airy, hollow, full… LOUD! It sounds like I want it to sound. It's the Moog method… and Cherry Audio knows it. They live it. Breathe it. Dream it too… And take notes from us.

The precision with which they transpile customer-generated code into their in-house tooling for faster outsourcing is superb. This is why their DCO is so bright, authentic and lush. Lush is the correct word for this very shiny and well designed plugin. I created 57 new Arp and Seq style patches using different

generators to get me up to speed. The included patch library is awesome. I played a few but went straight to the first basic audio patch and just went to town. It's a fun and simple synth. If you like TAL-

Noisemaker… You will love the sound of this beast. Sit down… check out the default fixes provided in the cookbook (manual) included by Radio Shack if I'm not mistaken… good for me… Nirvana… Thanks Cherry Audio… you made that cowboy so happy.

Manual layout
This manual will detail each part of the MG-1; the order of chapters follows the signal flow (as opposed to the physical layout of the front panel sections).

The Surrealistic MG-1 Plus is a loving recreation of an eccentric 70s/80s analog system by consumer electronics giant Radio Shack. The MG-1 is a great sounding synthesizer with some silly limitations, all addressed by Cherry Audio's Surrealistic MG-1 Plus. These limitations include a limited-range two-and-a-half octave keyboard (the MG-1 Plus responds to any keyboard range), limited octave switching (the MG-1 Plus adds a three-position displacement) and very limited square wave. monophonic section (MG-1 Plus adds aliasing, modulation and range switching capabilities). We'll go into detail in each section of this guide, but suffice it to say that the MG-1 Plus builds on the original MG-1, is easy to use, sounds great, and adds fun with its modern and convenient features.
