A small med evac plane, carrying six people – including a little girl – crashed in Philly last night. Eyewitnesses said the plane burst into flames and even set a few houses on fire, with reports of both injuries and casualties. This freak incident happened just days after that tragic mid-air collision near Washington airport that took 67 lives.

According to a statement from the Mexico-based Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, the Learjet 55 went down shortly after leaving Northeast Philadelphia Airport. On board were four crew members, a paediatric patient, and that patient’s escort. The company said, "At this time we cannot confirm any survivors," and the Mexican government confirmed that everyone on board was a Mexican national.

The young girl, who was on her way home to Tijuana with her mother, left many in shock. Shai Gold, who works in corporate strategy for the air ambulance firm, said, "We are terribly shocked by this tragic turn of events. This was a very seasoned crew – we fly 600 to 700 times a year."

The FAA reported that the plane took off at about 6:06 pm local time and vanished from radar within 30 seconds after climbing to around 1,600 feet, en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy confirmed there were reportedly six people on board and said that the FAA and NTSB are now jointly investigating the crash.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump expressed his sadness, remarking how unfortunate it was to see the plane go down and praising the first responders for their efforts. The crash site, which is less than 5 km from the airport (mostly used for business jets and charter flights), left at least one house and several cars ablaze, as reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer. The situation is still pretty chaotic, with Philly Mayor Cherelle Parker stating that it’s an “all hands on deck” moment.

Flight tracking data from Flight Aware showed the plane was registered with a company called Med Jets. All in all, it’s a heart-breaking incident that has left many wondering what went wrong.
