This resulted in digital smudges on top of vinyl's analog distortion.
To play the beat, I used the lower keys on the sampler's keyboard to downtune the sample so that it played back at its original speed.
Kurt had already worked on modeling digital-to-analog converters, and since DACs are such an important part of the sound of these samplers, it was a natural fit.
